Conyers to Object to Ohio Electors, Requests Senate Allies
By William Rivers Pitt
t r u t h o u t | Report

Thursday 30 December 2004

Representative John Conyers, ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, will object to the counting of the Ohio Electors from the 2004 Presidential election when Congress convenes to ratify those votes on January 6th. In a letter dispatched to every Senator, which will be officially published by his office shortly, Conyers declares that he will be joined in this by several other members of the House. Rep. Conyers is taking this dramatic step because he believes the allegations and evidence of election tampering and fraud render the current slate of Ohio Electors illegitimate.

"As you know," writes Rep. Conyers in his letter, "on January 6, 2005, at 1:00 P.M, the electoral votes for the election of the president are to be opened and counted in a joint session of Congress. I and a number of House Members are planning to object to the counting of the Ohio votes, due to numerous unexplained irregularities in the Ohio presidential vote, many of which appear to violate both federal and state law."

juliesmagicmoon: Something to Watch

I thought I'd pass along this information for those of you who might be interested in tuning in, or reading a little more about info I've passed along to most of you about my cousin, 2nd Lt. Leonard Cowherd who was killed this past Spring in Karabala, Iraq. He is being featured in an HBO documentary called Last Letters Home at 9pm on HBO on Veteran's Day (it will be available free to cable viewers who do not subscribe to HBO).

Here's the article about my cousin's mother and wife.

I should note that I am not pro-military, by any means, but I did want to share this with people in the event they would like to watch or share or had thoughts they cared to discuss about how people in their family have been personally effected by this questionable war. If anyone feels this post is inappropriate for this community, please let me know and I'll gladly purge it.

"Challenge the results in New Hampshire"

Sign your name.

That's it.

This organization thinks if we can get the ball rolling in New Hampshire, we may get a recount in 34 states.

DOOOOOOOOOOO IT.

juliesmagicmoon: Promotion for Peaceful Co-existing

As many of you know, I'm pretty progressive with most of my politics. For some of you who may not know, I participated from a very early age in non-violent solutions to many of the world's problems.

My views on political and social justice were influenced through my parents and grandparents and their continued support of peace building and social justic groups like the ACLU, The Southern Poverty Law Center and the place where I probably spent most of my time outside of home and school until I left for college.

If you are interested in sincerely doing something positive, rather than sitting and complaining about bad policies and watching the manufactured news on TV, I would urge you to contact The Resource Center for Non-Violence.

Does peace matter to you?

Are you willing to do something about it, or will you be just one of faceless millions who just complains and does very little?
